New 'Dark Knight' Poster Unveiled on Viral Website
Filed under: Warner Brothers, Comic/Superhero/Geek, Posters

This impressive-looking new (final?) poster for The Dark Knight recently appeared on the film's fun viral website, WhySoSerious.com. If nothing else, it has to be the most intimidating piece of advertising we've seen for a modern comic book movie. God bless Christopher Nolan for refusing to make anything about this franchise remotely cartoonish. How the hell Batman actually imprinted the flaming bat signal onto that skyscraper, I'm dying to know.
The website also contains a note reading "Four Days," which presumably means that one more trailer will appear on Monday, April 28th. (At least, that's what the folks at ComingSoon.net speculate, and I tend to agree.) If I didn't feel duty-bound to watch it, I probably wouldn't: this is one of the few summer flicks I'm dying to see unspoiled. Nolan makes movies, not frivolous money-making throwaways, and I think The Dark Knight will be no exception.
My favorite piece of Dark Knight artwork, by the way, remains this international poster (the first one, not the second), which was my desktop background for quite a while. It really seems to capture the essence of these new movies.

I doubt that Batman put this flaming bat on the building. It seems more like something the Joker would do to attract his attention.
Reminds me of Fight Club.

This is entirely speculation, but contains things people may consider SPOILERS.
I think that's Bruce Wayne's penthouse that he's been living in since Wayne Manor burned down. The Joker found out who he is somehow and torched the place. This is just me, but I'm really hoping he kills off Rachel Dawes to get this information. That way they can also introduce Vicky Vale or Selina Kyle as a love interest, none of this childhood sweetheart bull.

That international poster still is my background... But now I'm tempted to change it.

Yeah, it's unlikely that Batman set fire to the side of a building. It probably is the Joker or what-have-you making a joke out of the bat-signal.

OK it seems obvious but I have to say it.
Evokes 9/11? You don't make a poster like this without atleast being aware that the bat symbol creates damage that looks eerily similar to the twin towers.

Obviously I'm talking about the towers before they fell. Maybe they thought it would be more viral if it evoked something a little provocative.

It was a great reveal, a text came to my joker phone (from the April Fool's viral effort - clowntravelagency.com) saying not to worry about Lt. Gordon (the operation slipknot efforts from this week - www.gpdmcu.com/operationslipknot) that it was "all part of the plan" then the new viral page was whysoserious.com/itsallpartoftheplan. Amazing! I can't wait to see what happens in 4 days....and of course for the 7-18 :)

Interesting to notice...on the viral site this come from? The "its all part of the plan" one? You see pictures of presidents with their faces done up all Joker like. At first I was puzzled by why the selection, but then I saw that one of them frames did not hold a picture of a former president. Instead, it's the picture of Roger Garcetti from the Gotham Times. Its the bellow Teddy Roosevelt, which is in turn below the Joker card that links to the poster. Look for that frame to be the link to whatever is happening in "Three Days."
