Moaning Myrtle's Cut From Harry Potter!
Get what you can through older clips like the one above, because it looks like Moaning Myrtle is getting more to moan about. Snitch Seeker, a Potter fan site, contacted Shirley Henderson's agency, and they confirmed: "I'm sorry to report that Moaning Myrtle has not made it into the latest film." That's right -- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will get none of the moaning cutie. In the realms of the plot, this means that Myrtle won't be able to console Draco Malfoy after Harry performs the Sectumsempra spell on the tow-headed wannabe baddie.
I'm beginning to wonder if the final two-parter announcement is not only to handle all that's packed inside the last installment, but to have enough room to give all the beloved characters their time on screen. At least, with two films, I would hope that they wouldn't have to cut anyone completely out. The only thing that sucks more than a character cut for time, is a character cut when the time is already doubled.
What say you, Potter fans? Is Myrtle an okay exclusion?

(Page 1)2. They're probably going to alter something, like how Mike Newell made Neville find the Room of Requirement instead of having Fred and George telling everyone.

3. I think that if they have to cut a character, it should be Moaning Myrtle. She really doesn't have much of a purpose.

4. Of course she has a purpose as Eric stated above.
I just wish they wouldn't cut entire scenes/characters which need to be left in for plot. They instead enjoy adding new ones which have absolutely no purpose. For example, in the upcoming movie they've completely ignored the fact that Tonks and Lupin weren't really together yet. That if done correctly, I could have dealt with b/c I realize about time restraints. HOWEVER, Death Eaters attacking the Weasleys home (the Burrow) is completely and utterly UNACCEPTABLE. I mean WTF?!?!?! The Death Eaters didn't even really show until Kingsley Shackelbolt reported via Patronus "The Ministry has fallen. Scrimgeour is dead." This was even at Bill and Fluer's wedding, which seems to be also left out.
See things like that is what pisses me off. You have a perfectly good book on hand. What's wrong with using it for plot?

5. That's fine. Shirley Anderson's baby-talking whiney ghost plays great on the page but was more obnoxious than all the children ever to star in a Jurassic Park film put together.

7. Deathly Hallows, yes.
Half-Blood Prince, no.

8. Leave it to Kloves to dilute and weaken another of Rowling's magnificently multi-layered, emotionally gripping stories. I am very dissatisfied and frustrated with his choices and screenwriting and wonder why the producers keep going back to him. It is because of Kloves, that these movies pale next to Rowling's storytelling and have never reached the "classic masterpiece" benchmark they so richly deserved. We need Dumbledore to move in, wave his wand at Kloves adapted screenplay and exclaim, "REPARO!!!" Maybe that would help.

9. I think that Moaning Myrtle is an important character in that scene. She doesn't really have a big part in the book either, but I don't think that she should be cut out of the movie.
The point is, no one really LIKES Myrtle, do they? To show that Malfoy, probably the most irritable of the Hogwarts students, actually confides in her is a big deal. It really shows how he really has no one.
And it's also funny how Mytrle floats around yelling, "MURDER IN THE CASTLE!"

1. As a Potter-head, I really don't think they should exclude any of the characters in any of the movies. It will be interesting to see how the do the Sectumsempra scene without her. She is the one who yells out that there has been a "murder" in the castle. I guess she really isn't needed, but I hope they still show the emotional side of Malfoy. It was that scene that actually made me feel sorry for him, which I never feel towards him.
