Watch Five Minutes of 'Batman: Gotham Knight'!
Now this looks pretty damn cool.
Amidst our somewhat crazed anticipation for The Dark Knight, I bet most of you forgot we were getting a direct-to-DVD anthology of six animated Batman stories called Batman: Gotham Knight. Much like the Animatrix, Gotham Knight takes place between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, while utilizing several different well-known animators and writers (with Begins' David Goyer being among the bunch). That said, we've seen images, trailers and behind-the-scenes featurettes, but now MTV has debuted a pretty slick five-minute clip that feels dark as all hell. In the scene above, mobster Sal Maroni squares off against a badass figure known as The Russian in a fairly spectacular gunfight which ends with a visit from that Bat-dude. The animation looks fantastic, and I imagine Bat-fans will definitely want to pick this sucker up when it hits shelves on July 8th, 10 days before The Dark Knight arrives in theaters.

(Page 1)2. ok.that was stupid. neither side could hit an elephant even if their life depended on it (which it did!). i for one, don't always like the extreme realism of nolan, but this is a radical shift to the other extreme of the spectrum. Anyways fanboys will dig it. i'll wait for the main movie instead.

3. You forgot to mention Kevin Conroy, the definitive voice of Batman, will be voicing Bats throughout all the cartoons.

8. ...He gets shot by a machine gun and the bullets bounce off of him... then moves faster than a speeding bullet to save the girl... that's not Batman, thats Superman in a Batman costume!
But you know, I didnt like the Matrix animated movies either, so maybe that's the thing now days, just thought they'd do better being that the old animated tv show was cool.

9. Umm, Al have you ever seen a japanese anime? What did you expect? Hyper-realism? Not going to happen. From the trailer it looks like theres another one where he IS a bat, and another one where he is japanese. Your complaints amount to walking into a horror movie and then complaining that it was scary. This is the style. If you don't like it then cool, its definitely not for everyone, but this is what its going to be like. If its not your style then you should definitely avoid watching the rest of the clips.
